About
I’m Lucy, a fully qualified, BACP registered integrative psychotherapist based in Cheshire. I’ve worked extensively across NHS and community settings, supporting people experiencing:
anxiety and depression
grief and bereavement
postnatal and perinatal mental health challenges
low self-esteem
life transitions
family and relationship issues
trauma
I see therapy as a place where connection helps your perspective tilt. With curiosity and understanding, you can start to see things differently. Change is usually gradual, it comes from looking at what has shaped you and how it still affects you, not from trying to “fix” who you are.
My approach draws on established and evidence-based therapeutic models - cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, person-centred therapy and neuroscience, tailored to your individual needs. We’ll look at your life as a whole: what’s shaped you, what’s happening now, and what you want next.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years in senior media and communications roles for healthcare and not-for-profit organisations. I was privileged to hear and share people’s stories of discrimination, disadvantage, resilience, and understanding the systems and pressures that shape us. This work grounded me in people’s real-life experiences and how we make meaning amongst uncertainty.
I don’t step into the therapy room as someone with all the answers. I’m a person who is also working things out. My interest in grief and loss, self-worth and women’s life transitions (including career changes, motherhood and perimenopause/menopause) is rooted in both my clinical work and my own lived experience. Traumatic bereavement, postnatal anxiety and periods of feeling untethered in identity and direction have shaped how I understand change: slow, relational and rarely linear. This informs the way I work - with curiosity, steadiness and space for the messiness of being human.
This interest naturally extends to my work with mothers. My academic research into matrescence (the process of becoming a mother) explored the conflicting emotions this can bring and its impact on relationships. This unique time of change physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, can leave new mothers feeling lost and unprepared. I work with people at all stages of motherhood, and for new mums in the first 12 months after giving birth, I offer reduced fee sessions.
